The sun was still in the sky, though it would soon set behind the distant mountains. At which point, the creatures of the night would wake up. However, the rumbling of the earth, the stirring winds and the loud noises, were likely to wake the vampires sooner than usual.

Amadalia was still sleeping, when she woke up from the sound of a powerful explosion. She quickly stepped out of bed, looked around and heard another explosion. This time she also saw two light sources outside. As she looked out the window, she took a step back and squinted her eyes, as one of the light sources was the remaining sunlight. Despite that, she had seen where the other light source came from; the Suraisa valley.

and as another explosion of demonic power went off, despite the distance between her house and the Suraisa family, she recognized it as Mathew’s power. And the fact she could feel it all the way from over here, she knew he was going full power at the moment. and the only reason for him to do that, was if he fought an opponent of equal or greater power. And, with him being her friend and a member of her team, she’d go there and help him.

she quickly got dressed, grabbed her rapier, opened her room’s door and ran to the mansion’s front door, where she saw her mother, already dressed and wearing a dark cloak with hood over her battle attire; a black blouse, tight black pants, knee high high heel boots and a rapier on her belt. Miss Moonsong looked at her daughter with her usual cold expression, ‘and where do you think you’re going young lady?’

Amadalia frowned, ‘where do you think? Mathew’s fighting out there. I’m going to help him!’ as she walked by her mother, miss Moonsong grabbed her by her shoulder and threw her back. And it wasn’t just and simple pull and throw. Miss Moonsong’s grip was bone crushing and her throw made Amadalia crash into and through the stairs, knocking the air out of her lungs. As Amadalia tried to sit up, her mother calmly walked toward her, ‘let me make myself clear!’ her voice was calm, but ice cold. That, plus the fact that her irises were completely red and her sclera was black, along with her skin turning white as snow, showed Amadalia how serious her mother was.

Miss Moonsong continued, ‘you’re not setting one foot outside before I return young lady! If you do; you’ll be grounded until you graduate high school!’ Amadalia stood up with an angry expression, ‘mother! Mathew is a member of my team and he’s a friend! Why are you forbidding me from helping him?!’ miss Moonsong sighed, ‘Ama, close your eyes and sense that demon’s power. And when I say “that demon” I don’t mean Mathew, but the one he’s fighting with all his might!’

Amadalia closed her eyes and sensed Mathew’s power as she heard the explosions from where she stood/ she could almost sense how he aimed his attacks and released them. but;… she didn’t sense what he aimed them at. Yet her mother had said it was another demon. Amadalia opened her eyes, ‘I don’t sense any other demon, other than Mathew and his father.’ Miss Moonsong nodded, ‘indeed. Well, I can sense what that boy is fighting. And think about it; you told the other nobles that Mathew is physically the strongest and he has the most destructive power. So, in this battle, which he’s losing, how do you think you can help him you’re more likely to get in the way!’

her mother turned around, walked to the door, which opened up and her hood put itself over her head, before the door closed behind her. Amadalia walked to one of the windows and saw her mother put up two protective barriers. One to prevent Amadalia from leaving the mansion, the other was to prevent anything from getting into the mansion.

Amadalia, in her anger, unconsciously lifted up all the furniture in the room and tossed it all through the room, ‘I would get in his way while I’m trying to help? What kind of bull crap logic is that?!’ one of her mother’s servants walked in, ‘young miss Moonsong?’ in an angry reflex, as Amadalia looked at the servant, her telekinesis lifted the servant up and slammed her against a wall, ‘what?!’

the servant replied, as if nothing had happened, ‘it’s not that lady Moonsong meant to say your powers wouldn’t be able to help your friend. But if he’s the strongest member on your team and he has trouble with this opponent, lady Moonsong does not wish to risk your life. strict and cold as the mistress may be, she is your mother. From what I have experienced in observing and serving, most mothers wish their children to be safe.’

Amadalia put the servant back on the ground and looked outside again. she hadn’t asked for her mother’s protection. Though maybe,… somewhere she was somewhat grateful for it.

Blaze paced around in the cave that was his home. He had taken on his wolf form, so his senses of hearing and smelling were heightened. Combining the ears and nose of a demon dog and a werewolf, he could hear and smell all the way over to the Suraisa valley, where he sensed Mathew’s fight. And as he paced, hearing and smelling the battle, he was furious. His fury showed in his fire powers, as his fur was completely on fire. His father had forbidden him to set one paw outside of the cave! Blaze wanted to disobey, but his father had literally used his alpha status of their small wolf pack; commanding Blaze to stay inside and not leave until he said so.

as Blaze listened, he heard his parents running toward the Suraisa valley, while on the air, he smelled miss Moonsong flying toward it at high speed. smelling her, Blaze momentarily shifted his senses to Amadalia, who seemed to remain in her mansion, while two barriers surrounded it. Blaze went back to the battle, but no matter how strong his sense of smell or hearing was, he couldn’t detect Mathew’s target. Mathew was young, liked to play, but even he wouldn’t start bombing everything with his hell-spheres for a laugh. During their eight missions over the last five weeks, Blaze had seen how serious the little demon could be.

miss Moonsong landed at the foot of the Suraisa valley, but not in her normal form. Her skin, which had before been white as snow, was now black as ash. She stood over two meter tall, had four bat wings on her back, while her arms remained free. She had a big bat face, with blood red eyes and a mouth filled with nothing but fangs. Her hair turned white and was blowing in the wind as she held her rapier in her right claw.

Kogeta stood four meter tall as a massive dark red werewolf, while silvery tribal markings flowed over his fur and his eyes were focused on the enemy, while Hana stood three meter tall as a brown demon dog, beside her husband. The scene before the three of them was not the Suraisa valley they remembered. The straight grassy fields with the river running through the valley and some trees here and there, was now filled with many high and spiky trees, many of which had burning branches, while a thunderstorm overhead was shooting down lightning throughout the valley. And, on three different locations in the valley, the three current members of the Suraisa family lay defeated.

Matai, in his huge nine tailed fox form lay on the ground with several bleeding wounds. Lisa had both of her wings broken, some bleeding slashes over her body, while a spear of light lay in her hand. And Mathew, laying face down, showing only four circles on his back, while two black feathery wings and two dragon wings sprouted from his back. Two bone spikes and two thick wood spikes stuck out from his shoulders. Four demon horns and two dragon horns stuck out from Mathew’s forehead, while a crown of branches and twigs sprouted from his scalp. His white skin now also had scales on it, his snake tail looked thicker and more like a dragon. Mathew was now three times his normal size and his blond hair reached the bottom of his back, while his black claws now had a green shine to it. and, as a finishing touch, vines seemed to be wrapped around his body. With two seals broken, Mathew’s demon form had been altered further.

and, standing atop Mathew’s back, a normal man sized form, seemingly made up of burning shadows. In the facial area were two red eyes, with burning golden irises in them. it looked at the three newcomers, before a white smile appeared and grew on the face. as it spoke, the voice sounded hollow and it echoed, ‘well, I hadn’t expected the neighbors to visit. As you can see, the hosts are currently unable to greet you, so I’m afraid you’ll have to leave.’

Miss Moonsong frowned, ‘why are you doing this? and don’t think we don’t know who you are!’ Hana nodded, ‘your presence and power is unmistakable! Why did you attack the Suraisa family?!’ Kogeta growled, ‘and should we not like your answer, you can expect to be chewed to bits!’ the burning shadow chuckled, ‘well, since you know who I am, let me ask you; do the three of you honestly think you stand a chance against me? and mister wolf; chew me to bits? I’m not even here. My shadow is just a medium through which I act!’

Kogeta narrowed his eyes, ‘you didn’t answer my wife’s question!’ the shadow nodded, ‘indeed, I did not. Why did I attack the Suraisa family? Well, being who I am, I simply felt it was necessary to check up upon the other six families now and then. And by checking up on them I mean, see how powerful they are. Imagine my surprise and disappointment when I found this boy with so many seals on him. so, to remove those seals, I simply needed this boy to lose all control over his emotions, making him go wild. And what better way to do that, than to injure his parents before his eyes, while he remained too weak to do anything about it?

Kogeta barked fiercely, sending out a shockwave, hitting the shadow and knocking it off f Mathew. the huge werewolf walked forward, ‘I warned you what would happen if I didn’t like your answer!’ the shadow chuckled and stood up, ‘maybe so, but if that’s your best shot,…’ the shadow was cut off at that point, as Hana had run around the field of trees, had reached the shadow and now swatted it away with her claw.

as it was knocked into the air, miss Moonsong struck it down with her blade, knocking it to the ground. As the shadow landed, the grin remained on its face, ‘impressive, ‘good teamwork. A demon, a werewolf and a vampire. Now, how about I cheat a little?’ Hana came running at the shadow and prepared to swat the little monster away again.

the shadow glanced her way with a smirk, before simply saying; ‘kneel!’ instantly, Hana fell to the ground and knelt before the shadow, as it looked at Kogeta and miss Moonsong, ‘you already said you knew who I was, than you should also have known what I’m capable of. As the demon king, I hold dominion over all demons who are weaker than I am. Even if I’m just here through a shadow medium, my voice compels all demons to obey me. now, I could order miss doggy to attack mister wolf,… but taking her out of the fight is enough for now!’

Kogeta rushed forward in anger, before the shadow shot forward. As Kogeta barked, sending out another shockwave, the shadow reached Kogeta and punched his jaw, knocking down the large werewolf, before it was knocked back by the shockwave. Miss Moonsong arrived at the shadow’s side and pointed her blade at the shadow’s throat, ‘attacking the demons is understandable. But now that you know their power; why do you continue to fight?’

the shadow knocked the rapier aside and stood up, ‘simple; I’m bored. I’m looking for some excitement. And I’d like it to last as long as possible!’ as he finished saying this, a small blast of lightning hit his back. The shadow looked back at Mathew, but the young demon was still unconscious. As another blast of lightning hit the shadow, it looked further and found a young witch standing there, chanting another spell, before launching another blast of lightning at the shadow.

the shadow took the blast, before a smile came to its face, ‘a small witch comes to fight. I wonder why.’ Hana answered, ‘she’s a friend of the Suraisa boy. She’s fighting for her friend!’ as the shadow started walking toward the little witch, Kogeta jumped in the way, while blood was dripping from his jaw where he had been hit, ‘where do you think you’re going?’ the shadow smiled, ‘this is a battle of higher powers. She should be punished for interfering!’

the next moment, two burning plants quickly grew from under the shadow and bound themselves around its legs, before a massive blast of lightning shot down from the sky. On the moment of impact, Kogeta howled sending out a shockwave with a long duration, sending out a stream of slashing wind, which clashed with the shadow. And, attacking from her end, miss Moonsong had upped her form by dawning her blood armor, , before slashing her blade, sending out a wave of power. As all three attacks clashed, Hana could feel her freedom return to her and she stood up.

as the dust settled, only the head of the shadow seemed to remain, but it was already fading as it said, ‘not bad. So, the little devil was playing possum. … that or he woke up when I threatened his little friend. Whatever the case;… I’ve had a lot of fun tonight.’ The head vanished and Mathew slowly sat up on his knees. His body was covered in cuts and bruises, but he was able to move again.

{three hours later}

Amadalia, Blaze and Kuro arrived in the valley, the former two finally having gotten permission from their parents to go. And as they got to the valley, Bob dropped out of the sky for a visit. All of them were surprised to see many large spiky trees, most with burning branches, fill the once grassy valley. Bob smiled, ‘it seems some shit here was severely fucked up.’ Kuro frowned, ‘yeah. Something like that. from what Blaze and Moonsong told me; a powerful demon attacked the valley, Mathew and his parents included. And it seems this beast was powerful enough to hurt Mathew’s parents, causing him to break two more of his seals.’ Bob nodded, ‘so, everything is alright now right? No one died?’

Blaze nodded, ‘luckily not. But, whoever this demon was had to have some massive amounts of power to take on the Suraisa family, my parents and Ama’s scary mother.’ Amadalia nodded, ‘well, at least it was taken out and everyone’s okay; mostly.’

Bob nodded, ‘well, we still have our team member. And after what he’s been through, I’m pretty sure he needs some cuddles. And I’ll have my bosom serve as his pillows.’ She folded up her arms under her breasts and pushed them up slightly. Amadalia rolled her eyes, ‘I really don’t think Mathew’s in the mood for that Bob.’

Saya, having flown to the group on her broom, hearing what they said, landed next to them, ‘and besides; I doubt you could manage to cuddle him now.’ As an explanation, she pointed at the cave on the other side of the valley. Instead of the entrance being blocked, something huge was sitting next to the cave.

the team moved to the other side of the valley, where they saw Mathew, who was normally about 130 cm tall. Now he stood 390 cm tall, while his four wings made him quite broad. Mathew smiled, ‘hey guys. I’m glad to see you all here. I’m afraid that if we’re gonna have a meeting, it’s gonna have to be done outside. At this size, I won’t comfortably fit in the cave.’ Amadalia nodded, ‘that’s alright. We don’t have a meeting. We just came to check up on a friend and team member.’

Kuro looked at Mathew, ‘so,… you can’t turn back to normal now?’ Mathew shook his head, ‘nope. Sorry. With two seals broken, it will take me some time to regain control over my power. And once I have regained control, I can turn my body back to normal.’ Saya patted Mathew on his side, ‘knowing you, that will happen soon.’ Mathew smiled, ‘I hope so. But, should we get a mission, I’m up for it. just tell me when and where, even if I haven’t regained full control.’

Amadalia nodded, ‘sure thing. But, when we do get a mission, make sure to hold back as much as possible, in case we have a capture mission.’ Kuro nodded, ‘yeah. With your size you’d probably be able to,… hey; idea!’ Blaze grinned, ‘don’t hurt your brain trying to think Kuro.’ Everyone in the group, except Kuro, laughed. Kuro continued, ‘being as he is now, Mathew could help Bob with interrogating targets. We simply threaten them with Mathew eating them.’

Mathew nodded, reached out his right hand slowly toward Kuro, ‘good idea. I’m getting hungry for a bit of snake meat!’ Kuro shrieked and quickly hid behind Bob, before noticing everyone in the group was laughing about the joke and joined in on the laughing. Despite what had happened, everyone could still act normal around each other.
